Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)



Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication caused by abnormal developement of brain and nervous system.
Ability of people with autism are not fixed and different from one and another.


For example: there is problem in expression of emotion but ther are people who are more excellent than normal person in music, art, maths and memory. In their daily lives, some may need a lot of help or can live without help.


Autism is more common in men in a ratio of 4:1 to women.
In a child,signs will appear before he is 3 yrs old.


Some signs of autism are
-no eye contact.
-doing something repetitively(eg: speaking a phrase repetitively or doing repetitive movement)
-having difficulty in speaking, gesture and facial expression.
-speaking abnormal tone of voice like louder or robot voice.
-no respond in looking where someone is pointing.
-lack of deep interest in something.
-no much respond in enticing and playing with them.
-get upset in minor changes such as daily routine changes.


We can’t exactly know the cause of autism but may be enviroment, blood and genetics etc.
-having sibling with autism.
-born by old age parents.
-born with genetic disorder.
-during pregnancy, having health problem may cause the risk of autism.


Autism can’t be cured completely. But physician can cure and support daily routines depending on the different signs, ability and level of disease of a patient.
Therefore, the better the cure is early,the more effective for the kid. If you notice the child has the symptons of autism, discuss with child physician and it is important to be cured as soon as possible.
