G6PD Enzyme Deficiency

G6PD means kind of enzyme Glucose-6-Phosphate-Dehydrogenase. It helps red blood cells work properly and perform the regular activities. It also can help red blood cells to live longer.

G6PD Enzyme Deficiency is when the body has less amount of enzyme than enough. G6PD deficiency is an inherited condition and mostly common in men.

When the body does not have enough amount, the red blood cells break down faster than they are made. Most of the patients don’t have symptoms. But in serious deficiency cases, it can be intensive symptoms. When there will be exposure with allergic medicine, food and naphthalene ball, the red blood cells break down and appear the symptoms.

What cause the red blood cells break down ?
– Infected by bacteria and virus
– Some of the pain killer medicine
– Some of the antiseptic medicine
– Some of the malaria medicine
– Taungyi bean and bean
– Naphthalene ball

– When there will be exposure with these above items,
the red blood cells break down and anaemic, pale skin
Weakness
Fever
Dizziness
Yellowing of the eyes and skin
Increased heart rate
Difficulty breeze
Dark-coloured urine
These above symptoms will appear.

If they carefully avoid the allergic things, they can live as a normal life as others happily. Don’t worry.
